Cyborg & Biopunk AI Prompts: 29 Tested Retro-Film Sci-Fi Characters (2026)
AiDramaKing33 min read
29 cyborg, android and retro futuristic AI prompts for 70s and 80s film-look stills: 17 android scenes, 8 women, 8 male cyborgs, 5 soldiers, and the cost.
To get a retro-film cyborg in an AI image, name the machine part by part (riveted steel plates, stitched skin, exposed wires), leave one human detail, and end the prompt with the film stock: "35mm film grain", "1980s film stock with halation". The cast is men and women. Nine male cyborgs, from The Stitched Man (one prompt run four times on each of two models, all 8 frames usable) to a scrapyard warlord. Eight retro futuristic women from 70s and 80s references. Five cyborg soldiers. And seven android characters kept the same across 17 scenes by writing each character once and changing only the scene. Most prompts ran on both Seedream 5 Pro and GPT Image 2.5, so you can compare the two models on the same words.
All 64 frames are 9:16 at 1K, generated on November 6 and 7, 2026. More are in 40 tested sci-fi AI image prompts, with baroque walkers, body horror in the spirit of Gossip Goblin, and cyborg women.
Why retro biopunk? Gossip Goblin, the YouTube channel of Zack London, grew to 1.58 million subscribers on it: bodies rebuilt as machines, shot like an old film. His first feature, Gods Don't Give Gifts, opens in US cinemas on December 4, 2026. It started small, with a fictional travel series made in Midjourney, and a channel in this niche can start the same way: one character you keep from episode to episode. All 29 below are prompts you can run tonight.
What makes a cyborg AI prompt look like an 80s film still?#
Every prompt below is built from the same three parts, in this order, so you can swap one without breaking the others:
- The machine, part by part. Not "a cyborg" but "rusted, scratched steel plates bolted directly into his skull with round rivets", "a hard, glazed ivory porcelain shell like a teacup", "a column of polished chrome vertebrae". A model fills a vague word with the average sci-fi poster.
- One human detail left in. A bloodshot eye, red lips, a frightened look. The machine is only uncanny next to something alive.
- The film, named at the end. A lens, the grain and one flaw of old film stock: halation, chromatic aberration, a little motion blur.
Lesson 1. Write the materials as nouns you could touch (steel, porcelain, plastic, copper wire), each with its state: rusted, cracked, glossy, oily.
The 80s film look prompt: the line every prompt ends with#
The last line carries the lens and the film. A line to copy, put together from the prompts below:
85mm lens, shallow depth of field, 1980s film stock with halation. Photorealistic, no text, no subtitles, no watermark.
And three as they ran:
- The Stitched Man: "85mm lens, shallow depth of field, 35mm film grain".
- Ginger Unit: "35mm lens, 1980s film stock with halation, slight chromatic aberration".
- Chrome Spine: "Silver gelatin print, medium-format film grain, fine scratches".
GPT Image 2 kept the grain and the soft, muted contrast in every frame. Seedream 5 Pro drew the same scenes cleaner and sharper, closer to a render than to a film print.
Cyborg AI prompt: a retro sci-fi still tested on GPT Image 2 and Seedream 5 Pro#
The prompt ran four times on each model, unchanged. The row shows the best take from each.
The Stitched Man#
An extreme close-up of a biomechanical man: the face that opens a body horror short.
Cinematic extreme close-up, 9:16 vertical film still, slightly off-centre. A gaunt biomechanical man with pale bluish-grey skin and visible veins. Rusted, scratched steel plates are bolted directly into his skull with round rivets, round black audio modules are fitted over both ears, and thin copper wires snake across his scalp. One eye is normal and bloodshot; the other has a sharp black crosshair reticle etched into the iris. His wide grin is sewn shut at the edges with dark surgical stitches. Bundles of red cables and dark metal collar plates sit at his neck. Background: a bright industrial workshop window blown out to soft white. Hard key light from the window, cool fill, oily speculars on the metal. Muted grey-blue palette with red accents, 85mm lens, shallow depth of field, 35mm film grain. Photorealistic, eerie, no text, no subtitles, no watermark.
Held on both models, in all eight takes: the riveted plates, the copper wires, the crosshair in one eye, the stitched grin. Drifted: GPT Image 2 turned the "round black audio modules" into studio headphones every time. Seedream widened the grin into a toothy smile and reddened both eyes, not one.
Lesson 2. Describe a machine part by how it looks, not by what it does: "round black discs over both ears", not "audio modules", or the model draws the object it knows for that job.
GPT Image 2 vs Seedream 5 Pro for sci-fi: the test results#
The Stitched Man gave 4 usable frames out of 4 on both models. "Usable" means a frame I would publish without fixing it. They differ in look, not in hits: GPT Image 2 is muted and grainy, a film still; Seedream 5 Pro is sharper and cleaner, closer to a render. A GPT Image 2 frame costs 6 credits ($0.03) at 1K on kie.ai, a Seedream 5 Pro frame 7 credits ($0.035), so the 8 frames cost 52 credits, about $0.26.
Male cyborg characters: 8 AI prompts tested on Seedream 5 Pro and GPT Image 2.5#
The Stitched Man above is one man; a series needs a whole cast of them: veterans, soldiers and villains. These eight started on Pinterest, and each prompt keeps a reference's materials, palette and light with a new face, pose and props. I ran 11 on Seedream 5 Pro and kept 8, then ran those 8 on GPT Image 2.5 with the same prompt, one take each. At 7 credits ($0.035) for a Seedream frame and 6 credits ($0.03) for a GPT frame, the 19 frames cost 125 credits, about $0.63.
1. Scrapyard King#
A tired warlord on a throne of crates: the boss of a scrapyard episode.
Cinematic full-body shot, head to toe, 9:16 vertical film still, in a dark scrapyard of stacked rusted machine crates and hanging chains, thin smoke drifting. A massive cyborg man in his sixties with a weathered, scarred face, a short white beard and long swept-back white hair sits sprawled on a pile of crates like a throne, one leg stretched out, one heavy boot on a crate, looking down at the camera with tired authority. Both his arms are huge scuffed gunmetal prosthetics of stacked plates, pistons and exposed cable, the right forearm ending in a short rotary barrel instead of a hand, a thin wisp of smoke rising from it. He wears a stained white sleeveless undershirt, a single steel dog tag on a chain, heavy cargo trousers and armoured boots, with more gunmetal plating at his knees. Low warm key light from one side, deep shadow everywhere else, a faint red warning light far behind. Gunmetal, rust, dirty white and black palette, 35mm lens, low angle, 1980s film stock with heavy grain. Photorealistic, no text, no logos, no watermark.
Held on both models: the throne of crates, the rotary-barrel arm and its smoke, the dog tag, the chains and the red light far behind. Drifted: only the grade. GPT Image 2.5 made it warm and rusty, Seedream 5 Pro cold and dark.
2. Red-Visor Squad#
Soldiers with no faces, red slits in the fog: an army in one frame.
Cinematic medium shot, 9:16 vertical film still, a column of cyborg soldiers standing in a line in thick grey fog among ruined concrete pillars, receding into the distance. Each soldier wears a smooth matte charcoal helmet shaped like a beetle shell, with a thin glowing red visor slit and a round red lens at the side of the head; their faces are hidden. The nearest soldier, in sharp focus in the foreground, holds a heavy, worn rifle across his chest; the ones behind blur into the fog, their red slits still glowing. Their armour is dark grey segmented plating over ribbed black cable bundles at the neck and arms, scratched and dusty. Flat overcast light, the red slits the only colour, fog swallowing the far end of the line. Charcoal, ash grey and signal red palette, 85mm lens, shallow depth of field, 1980s film stock with halation. Photorealistic, no text, no logos, no watermark.
Held on both models: the beetle-shell helmets, the red slits and side lenses, the worn rifles and the line fading into the fog. Drifted: GPT Image 2.5 swapped the concrete pillars for ruined towers.
3. Split Mask#
Half lacquer shell, half cracked skin: the calm stare of a machine wearing a face.
Cinematic head-and-shoulders portrait, 9:16 vertical, against a flat warm grey studio backdrop. An android man in his forties with a gaunt face, looking straight into the camera with calm, pale grey eyes. His face is split down the middle: the left half is a battered black lacquer shell, chipped and scorched, opened at the cheek and temple to show black machinery, a small turbine and coiled cable; the right half is pale synthetic skin, cracked like old porcelain, with scorch marks and small torn holes showing machinery underneath. Black ribbed cables run from under his jaw into the high collar of a black armoured suit. Soft frontal studio light, a gentle shadow on the grey backdrop, glossy highlights on the lacquer. Black, bone white, scorch brown and grey palette, 85mm lens, shallow depth of field, fine grain. Photorealistic, quiet and unsettling, no text, no logos, no watermark.
Held on both models: the split down the middle, the chipped black lacquer, the cracked porcelain skin, the grey eyes and the cables at the jaw. Drifted: Seedream 5 Pro kept the machinery under the shell small; GPT Image 2.5 opened the cheek and drew the turbine and coils inside.
4. Orchard Guardian#
A soldier at rest in an olive grove, a brass beetle in his metal hand.
Cinematic three-quarter shot, from the head to the thighs, 9:16 vertical film still, in a sun-dappled orchard of old olive trees, warm dust in the air. A cyborg man in his early thirties with mature, defined features, a short dark beard and tousled black hair stands in profile, head bowed, looking down at a small brass beetle drone resting in his open mechanical palm. His left arm and shoulder are blue-grey armour plates with exposed pistons and small amber lights; the armour continues in thin segmented bands across his bare chest and down his side like grown bark, fused into the skin. Fine scars and seams run along his collarbone. He wears worn armoured trousers with a wide belt. Warm afternoon sun through the leaves, soft green bokeh behind, highlights on the blue-grey plates. Blue grey, warm skin, olive green and amber palette, 85mm lens, shallow depth of field, fine film grain. Photorealistic, no text, no logos, no watermark.
Held on both models: the olive trees and warm dust, the brass beetle in the mechanical palm, the blue-grey arm with amber lights. Drifted: neither drew the armour as grown bark. Seedream 5 Pro made it dark stripes that read as tattoos; GPT Image 2.5 made cracked plates across the chest and gave him a bodybuilder's torso.
5. Brass Oracle#
An elder with a brass lens for an ear: the wise one of the cast.
Cinematic head-and-shoulders portrait, 9:16 vertical, against a seamless pale grey studio backdrop. A Black man in his sixties with a calm, wise face, a short white beard and long white locs falling over his shoulders, turning his face three-quarters toward the camera. Over one ear and temple sits a chrome and gunmetal mechanical housing with a round brass lens glowing amber at its centre, small pistons along the jaw; his eye on the same side glows a soft amber. He wears a black leather high-collared jacket with a heavy zip. Soft frontal beauty light, gentle shadow, warm glow from the lens on his cheek. Silver white, chrome, amber and black palette, 85mm lens, shallow depth of field, fine grain. Photorealistic, dignified and calm, no text, no logos, no watermark.
Held on both models: the white locs and beard, the chrome housing with its glowing brass lens, the amber eye and the leather jacket. The two frames are almost the same; this prompt is safe on either model.
6. Half-Chrome Punk#
Half his skull is machine: a punk from the club scene of a cyberpunk city.
Cinematic head-and-shoulders portrait, 9:16 vertical, against a dark graphite backdrop. A pale man in his late twenties with a shaved head, sharp cheekbones, a septum ring and black ear plugs looks straight into the camera, expressionless. The left side of his skull and face is opened into black chrome machinery: hydraulic jaw pistons, tangled black cables and a dark lens where his eye should be. A small black plate is bolted to the top of his scalp. Dense grey abstract linework tattoos cover his neck, with no letters or symbols. He wears a heavy black wool coat with the collar up, a steel harness visible at his chest. Soft overhead light, cool shadow, small highlights on the chrome. Black, graphite, pale skin and steel palette, 85mm lens, shallow depth of field, fine grain. Photorealistic, no text, no logos, no watermark.
Held on both models: the chrome half of the skull with the dark lens, the plate on his scalp, the septum ring and ear plugs, the neck tattoos with no letters in them, and the steel harness. GPT Image 2.5 drew the tattoos denser and the chrome more ornate.
7. Circuit Skull#
A circuit board inside the skull, around a real ear: a silver-print portrait.
Black and white cinematic profile portrait, 9:16 vertical, against a flat pale grey backdrop. A man in his thirties with a strong nose, a short stubble beard and messy cropped blond hair, eyes lowered, seen in strict profile facing left. The back half of his skull is an open shell of polished steel framing dense circuit boards, tiny chips and fine wiring, wrapped around a real human ear; bundles of thin cables run from it down the back of his neck into the high collar of a dark woven jacket. Soft directional light from the front, deep tonal range, fine detail on the circuit boards. Silver gelatin print, black and white, 85mm lens, shallow depth of field, medium-format film grain, fine scratches. Photorealistic, no text, no logos, no watermark.
Held on both models: the black and white silver-print look, the steel shell framing the circuit boards, the real ear and the cables down the neck.
8. Scrap Crown#
Salvaged electronics bolted into a skull: a wasteland mechanic who fixed himself.
Cinematic close-up, 9:16 vertical film still, against a blurred dark brown background. A broad, weathered man in his fifties with a bald, mud-streaked head, deep forehead creases and narrowed pale blue eyes looks sideways at the camera with suspicion. A crude cluster of salvaged electronics is bolted into one side of his scalp: old relays, a small motor, tangled red and black wires and dented brass housings. A small brass plate is riveted across the bridge of his nose. He wears a battered leather and webbing harness over his shoulders. Warm hard light from one side, dirt and sweat highlighted on the skin, the background falling into brown shadow. Mud brown, brass, rust red and skin palette, 85mm lens, shallow depth of field, gritty film grain. Photorealistic, rough and tense, no text, no logos, no watermark.
Held on both models: the relays, the motor and the red wires on the scalp, the brass plate, the mud and the leather harness. Drifted: GPT Image 2.5 gave him a grey beard the prompt does not ask for, and moved the brass plate from his nose to his cheekbone.
Lesson 3. GPT Image 2.5 fills in what a prompt leaves blank: Scrap Crown got a beard nobody asked for. When a detail must stay out of the frame, write it in: "clean-shaven", "bare scalp".
Retro futuristic woman AI prompts: 8 tested frames in a 70s and 80s film look#
These eight also started on Pinterest: magazine covers, practical-effects stills and 70s film posters. I did not copy them. From each reference I kept the materials, the palette and the light, and wrote a new face, pose and props. Each one is a single take on Seedream 5 Pro. I ran 13 prompts and kept 8; at 7 credits ($0.035) a frame, the 13 cost 91 credits, about $0.46. Three of the eight I also ran on GPT Image 2.5, and Parapet Companion on Nano Banana Pro as well, to compare the models on the same prompt: 5 more frames, 42 credits, about $0.21.
1. Orange Mainframe#
An old computer worn as a headpiece: a 90s fashion-magazine portrait, then the whole look.
Held on both models: the signal-orange housing, the green circuit boards, the steel neck rings, the freckles and the turtleneck. Drifted: Seedream 5 Pro split the memory module into two connector blocks; GPT Image 2.5 kept it in one piece, with its amber lights. The third frame is a second prompt, the same woman head to toe, on GPT Image 2.5: it drew the coiled cable to the belt unit and kept her slim build.
Cinematic head-and-shoulders portrait, 9:16 vertical, against a flat matte black backdrop. A woman in her early thirties with mature, defined features, pale freckled skin, cropped platinum hair slicked back and calm grey eyes turns her face three-quarters to the left, chin slightly raised, lips relaxed. Over her head sits a heavy retro computer housing in glossy signal-orange plastic: two chunky ear blocks with exposed green circuit boards and ribbon cables, a cream-white memory module bolted across the crown like a tiara, rows of tiny amber status lights along the edge. A thin stack of polished steel rings closes around her neck above a high white ribbed turtleneck. Soft frontal beauty light, a gentle shadow under the cheekbones, the orange plastic glowing warm against the black. Signal orange, cream white, steel and black palette, 85mm lens, shallow depth of field, 1990s fashion magazine scan with soft grain and slight colour fade. Photorealistic, no text, no logos, no watermark.

Photorealistic, no text, no logos, no watermark.
Cinematic full-body shot, head to toe, 9:16 vertical, against a seamless flat matte black studio backdrop with a soft floor shadow. A woman in her early thirties with mature, defined features, a slim fit build, pale freckled skin, cropped platinum hair slicked back and calm grey eyes stands in a relaxed fashion pose, weight on one leg, her face turned three-quarters to the left, one hand raised to touch the side of her headpiece as if tuning it. Over her head sits a heavy retro computer housing in glossy signal-orange plastic: two chunky ear blocks with exposed green circuit boards and ribbon cables, a cream-white memory module bolted across the crown like a tiara, rows of tiny amber status lights along the edge. A coiled orange cable runs from one ear block down her back to a small orange computer unit clipped to her belt, with a cream keypad and a tiny amber display. A thin stack of polished steel rings closes around her neck. She wears a high white ribbed turtleneck tucked into wide-leg cream trousers with a sharp crease, a wide black belt with a chrome buckle, a short cropped jacket of glossy orange vinyl with a high collar left open, and chunky orange platform boots. Soft frontal beauty light with a broad overhead softbox, gentle falloff to black at the edges, the orange plastic and vinyl glowing warm against the black. Signal orange, cream white, steel and black palette, 50mm lens, full figure in frame, 1990s fashion magazine scan with soft grain and slight colour fade. Photorealistic, no text, no logos, no watermark.
2. Cassette Visor#
A cassette deck for eyes, on 70s Kodachrome.
Held: the bowl cut and fringe, the cream visor with its smoked window and red light, the two fingers on its side, the champagne vinyl collar and the vermilion paper. Drifted: "turning slightly toward the camera" became a full profile.
Cinematic medium close-up, 9:16 vertical, against a seamless flat vermilion paper backdrop. A woman in her early thirties with mature, defined features, olive skin, glossy jet-black hair in a heavy rounded bowl cut with a blunt fringe, and a calm closed-mouth expression, seen in profile turning slightly toward the camera. A rectangular visor of brushed cream plastic, shaped like an old cassette deck, covers her eyes edge to edge, with a smoked glass window and one tiny red indicator light; she touches its side with two fingers of one hand, as if adjusting it. She wears a high mandarin collar in pearlescent champagne vinyl with a single seam down the front. Soft window light from the left, gentle falloff, the vinyl catching one long highlight. Vermilion, champagne, cream and black palette, 85mm lens, shallow depth of field, 1970s Kodachrome with soft grain and warm cast. Photorealistic, no text, no logos, no watermark.
3. Parapet Companion#
A woman and her android above a dead city: a whole micro-drama in one frame.
Cinematic full-body shot, head to toe, 9:16 vertical film still, on a cracked concrete parapet high above a hazy ruined megacity, a colossal stepped tower in the far fog with one small red light. A woman in her early thirties with mature, defined features, a short black bob and a quiet, faraway look leans on the parapet in a fitted charcoal high-neck jumpsuit and worn black boots; her left forearm is a slim prosthetic of scuffed ivory plates. Behind her stands a tall weathered android of chipped ivory shell and exposed black cable bundles, its smooth faceless dome bent toward her, one mechanical arm folded gently across her waist; a soft green light glows in its shoulder. Overcast diffuse light, thick green-grey haze, rust stains running down the concrete. Fog green, ivory, charcoal and rust palette, 35mm lens, deep focus, 1980s film stock with heavy halation and lifted blacks. Photorealistic, melancholic and tender, no text, no logos, no watermark.
Held on all three models: the stepped tower with its one red light, the green fog, the rust running down the concrete, and the green light in the android's shoulder. Drifted: GPT Image 2.5 dropped her ivory prosthetic forearm and gave both hands to the android. Nano Banana Pro kept the forearm and had her lean on the parapet as written, but its android only rests a hand on her back, and the tenderness is gone. Seedream 5 Pro is the one that kept both.
4. Scanline Helmet#
A pearl helmet and a neck of black vertebrae: the close-up that opens an episode.
Cinematic extreme close-up of the head and neck, 9:16 vertical, against a flat deep crimson backdrop. An android woman in her early thirties with mature, defined features, pale freckled porcelain skin, full soft lips slightly parted. A rounded helmet of pearl-white lacquer with a short brim covers her head; a curved smoked-glass visor band hides her eyes, with faint red terminal text and three thin glowing red scanlines running across it. Her neck is a column of glossy black resin vertebrae, wet-looking, with loose black cables hanging from the helmet's sides down onto pearl-white shoulder plates. Soft frontal key light, a hard rim of crimson on the white lacquer, deep shadow under the brim. Crimson, pearl white, gloss black and red light palette, 100mm macro lens, shallow depth of field, 1980s film stock with halation. Photorealistic, no text, no logos, no watermark.
Held on both models: the pearl lacquer and the brim, the wet black vertebrae, the hanging cables and the freckles. Drifted: GPT Image 2.5 dropped the red terminal text and kept only faint lines on the visor.
5. Orange Planet Patrol#
A space patrol from a 70s film poster, as a photograph.
Held: the low angle, the two moons, the red desert, the tangerine suit closed to the throat, the belt, the white gauntlets and the platform boots. Drifted: the pistol "holstered at her hip" ended up in her hand.
Cinematic full-body shot, head to toe, 9:16 vertical film still, low angle from the ground, on a red desert plateau under a dark blue sky with two enormous pale moons and drifting white clouds. A woman in her early thirties with mature, defined features, long wavy honey-blonde hair moving in the wind and a steady, confident gaze stands with her feet apart, looking past the camera toward the horizon. She wears a high-collared glossy tangerine vinyl flight suit closed to the throat, a wide black utility belt with a chrome buckle, white padded gauntlets and tall white platform boots; a chunky chrome retro signal pistol hangs holstered at her hip. Hard warm sunlight from the side, long shadows across red sand, the vinyl catching bright highlights. Tangerine, white, cobalt blue and desert red palette, 24mm lens, low angle, 1970s science-fiction film still with saturated colour and fine grain. Photorealistic, no text, no logos, no watermark.
6. Eye Monitor#
An 80s practical-effects headset: a screen shows the eye it hides.
Held: the chipped tomato-red paint, the CRT with one green eye, the brass fittings and coloured wires, the hands at her chin and the coral lips. Drifted: "mouth slightly open" became a gasp.
Cinematic close-up of the face and hands, 9:16 vertical, against pure black. A woman in her early thirties with mature, defined features, smooth fair skin and glossy coral lips, mouth slightly open, raises both hands to her chin, fingertips touching her jaw. Bolted over her eyes is a boxy practical-effects headset of chipped tomato-red painted metal: a small glowing blue CRT screen in the front shows one enormous green human eye, and the rest of the dome is a tangle of brass fittings, coloured wires, toggle switches and small steel pipes. A hard flash from the front, glossy highlights on the lips and the red paint, the CRT glow casting blue onto her nose. Tomato red, CRT blue, brass and black palette, 50mm lens, 1980s magazine photo on slide film with deep saturated colour and grain. Photorealistic, no text, no logos, no watermark.
7. Dragonfly Sentinel#
Dragonfly wings on a machine body, on a mountain top in daylight.
Held: the lichen on the rock, the hazy ridges, the steel disc and antenna at her ear, the gold and gunmetal plates, the pistons at the knees and the four cracked-glass wings. Drifted: one knee down became a low crouch on both feet.
Cinematic full-body shot, head to toe, 9:16 vertical film still, on a lichen-covered rock summit above forested mountain ridges in hazy afternoon light. A cyborg woman in her early thirties with mature, defined features, a sharp jaw, short wind-blown ash-blonde hair and a focused gaze crouches low on one knee at the edge of the rock, one armoured hand braced on the stone, looking out over the valley. A brushed-steel listening disc covers one ear, with thin antenna wires rising from it. Her body is fitted armour of scratched champagne-gold and gunmetal plates over exposed cables and pistons at the knees and elbows. Four huge transparent dragonfly wings rise from her shoulder blades, cracked like old glass, with bronze veins. Soft natural daylight from the side, the wings catching the sun, blue haze over the far ridges. Champagne gold, gunmetal, glass and pine-green palette, 35mm lens, deep focus, 1980s film stock with fine grain. Photorealistic, no text, no logos, no watermark.
8. Coral Lantern#
A coral mask with a lantern for an eye, and lace wings.
Held: the coral and pearls, the glowing amber lens, the lace wings, the coral tendril over her shoulder and the bodice closed to the throat with its glowing cabochons.
Cinematic head-and-shoulders portrait in profile, 9:16 vertical, against a deep teal blur. A woman in her early thirties with mature, defined features, smooth porcelain skin and deep red lips, seen in profile, chin raised. Over her eyes sits a biomechanical half-mask of encrusted pink coral and tiny pearls, set with one large round amber lens glowing like a lantern. Translucent dragonfly wings of fine coral-pink lace fan out behind her temple, and a long segmented coral tendril curls down from her head over her shoulder. She wears a high-necked fitted bodice of the same coral filigree over pale fabric, closed to the throat and set with small glowing amber and opal cabochons. Soft teal ambient light, warm amber glow from the lens and the cabochons, a gentle rim light on her profile. Coral pink, amber, opal and deep teal palette, 85mm lens, shallow depth of field, fine grain. Photorealistic, ornate and quiet, no text, no logos, no watermark.
Lesson 4. When a reference shows skin you would not publish, name the garment that covers it: "a high-necked bodice closed to the throat", "a flight suit closed to the throat". Seedream kept both of those frames covered.
Cyborg soldier AI prompts: 5 full and medium shots on Seedream 5 Pro and GPT Image 2.5#
Faces close up are only half a cast; a war story needs whole figures in their place. These five are full and medium shots, from Pinterest references again. I ran 7 on Seedream 5 Pro and kept 5, then ran those 5 on GPT Image 2.5 with the same prompt, one take each: 12 frames, 79 credits, about $0.40.
1. Ember Watch#
A soldier in the ruins after the fight: the quiet shot before the next scene.
Cinematic three-quarter shot, from the helmet to the knees, 9:16 vertical film still, in a ruined street at dusk, small fires burning in the rubble behind him, embers drifting. A cyborg soldier stands turned three-quarters away from the camera, head lowered, holding a compact rifle low against his body. His helmet is dust-grey with a dark visor, a cluster of small round optic lenses on one side and a tiny cyan display glowing on its rim. His armour and fatigues are coated in pale dust and ash; a small screen on his upper arm glows cyan with lines of data. Thin cables run from the back of his helmet into the collar. Cold blue-grey ambient light, warm orange firelight rimming his side, embers glowing in the air. Ash grey, cold blue, ember orange and cyan palette, 50mm lens, shallow depth of field, 1980s film stock with halation. Photorealistic, no text, no insignia, no logos, no watermark.
Held on both models: the cluster of lenses on the helmet, the cyan display on the arm, the cables into the collar, the fires and the embers. Drifted: GPT Image 2.5 lost the pale ash on the armour, made it dark, and turned the small fires into a burning street.
2. Vanguard#
A commander in front of his troops: the poster shot of a war series.
Cinematic full-body shot, head to toe, 9:16 vertical film still, low angle on a wet black landing field under a stormy sky, a huge dark ship hovering above, blank dark grey banners on poles, armoured troops standing behind him. A towering cyborg commander in heavy black faceted armour stands in front, feet planted, a long rifle resting on his shoulder. His helmet is smooth and faceless with a thin glowing cyan visor line; thin cyan lights glow in the seams at his chest, knees and wrists. The troops behind him in the same black armour stand in loose ranks with rifles, their cyan visors glowing, fading into haze. Overcast light with a bright break in the clouds behind, wet reflections on the ground, cyan accents. Black, gunmetal, storm grey and cyan palette, 24mm lens, low angle, 1980s film stock with halation. Photorealistic, no text, no insignia, no emblems, no watermark.
Held on both models: the faceless helmet with its cyan line, the rifle on the shoulder, the troops in loose ranks, the blank banners and the ship. The two frames are almost the same.
3. Snow Exo#
An exoskeleton in a winter forest: the heavy infantry of the cast.
Cinematic full-body shot, head to toe, 9:16 vertical film still, in a snowy birch forest, light snow falling, mist between the trunks. A cyborg soldier in a heavy tan exoskeleton frame stands facing the camera, a massive angular rifle with a small cyan light held across his body. His face is covered by a tan armoured helmet with a black breathing grille and small optic lenses. Under the exoskeleton he wears digital woodland camouflage fatigues, a plate carrier with pouches, knee pads and boots; the exoskeleton's pistons, struts and a big mechanical arm brace run along his limbs and over his shoulder. Soft cold daylight, snow highlights, muted greens and browns. Tan, woodland camouflage, snow white and cyan palette, 50mm lens, fine film grain. Photorealistic, no text, no numbers, no logos, no watermark.
Held on both models: the tan exoskeleton struts and pistons, the breathing grille, the woodland camouflage, the angular rifle with its cyan light and the birch forest. GPT Image 2.5 added heavier snowfall.
4. Monsoon#
A lone soldier in the rain: the melancholy frame that ends an episode.
Cinematic medium-wide shot, 9:16 vertical film still, a cyborg soldier standing in a tall green rice field in heavy monsoon rain, misty trees behind. He stands in profile, head bowed, rain running off him in streams, the wet grass up to his waist. His helmet is dark green armour shaped like a beetle shell, with a thin glowing yellow visor line and an antenna; his long layered armour coat of dark green plates hangs to his knees, with small yellow indicator lights at the chest. Water drips from the helmet's brim. Grey diffuse rain light, the yellow lights the only warm colour, the field and trees in soft focus. Dark green, rain grey and signal yellow palette, 85mm lens, shallow depth of field, fine film grain. Photorealistic, melancholic, no text, no insignia, no logos, no watermark.
Held on both models: the beetle-shell helmet with its antenna and yellow line, the long coat of green plates, the rain pouring off the brim and the rice up to his waist.
5. The Legion#
One face among thousands of helmets: the frame that shows the size of an empire.
Cinematic wide shot, 9:16 vertical film still, perfectly symmetrical, an avenue between endless ranks of identical armoured soldiers, a colossal dark tower at the vanishing point, giant ring-shaped platforms on either side under a heavy grey sky. A man in his early forties with mature, defined features, short dark hair and a hard, calm stare walks toward the camera down the centre of the avenue, the only uncovered face. He wears fitted matte black armour over a dark ribbed bodysuit, with a high collar. Thousands of soldiers stand at attention on both sides, faces hidden behind smooth black helmets, rifles held upright, repeating into the distance. Flat overcast light, wet reflections on the stone, a cold desaturated grade. Black, cold grey and steel blue palette, 35mm lens, deep focus, 1980s film stock with fine grain. Photorealistic, epic and oppressive, no text, no insignia, no logos, no watermark.
Held on both models: the symmetry, the endless ranks, the wet stone, the tower and the ring platforms. Drifted: GPT Image 2.5 gave him a long coat the prompt does not mention, and its soldiers carry no rifles.
Consistent android character prompts: 7 cyborgs in 17 tested scenes#
Each prompt here is two blocks. The character block describes the face, the body and the machine parts, and it never changes. The scene block holds everything that does: the shot, the pose, the place, the light and the film stock. I paste the character, then one scene, and send them as one prompt. Each frame below came from exactly that pair, in one take, and its Copy button copies the pair; open the full prompt to see where the character ends and the scene begins.
The first two characters ran on GPT Image 2.5, the other five on Seedream 5 Pro: one model per character, so what changes between frames is the scene, not the model. I ran 21 scenes and kept 17. A GPT Image 2.5 frame costs 6 credits ($0.03) at 1K on kie.ai and a Seedream 5 Pro frame 7 credits ($0.035), so all 21 cost 141 credits, about $0.71.
1. The Clockwork Porcelain#
A porcelain doll with clockwork in her head, and an escape story in three frames.
Each frame is one take on GPT Image 2.5; its Copy button copies the whole prompt, character included.
Held: the glaze, the seams and the clockwork in all three scenes. Drifted: nothing here, but two earlier versions of this prompt, with the porcelain written into each scene, drew it as pale makeup on a human face.
An android woman in her early thirties with mature, defined features and a long silver-white braid. Her face, neck and hands are a hard, glazed ivory porcelain shell like a teacup, not skin and not makeup, with fine seams at the jaw and the wrists. The side of her skull is open where the ear should be: a dense brass and gunmetal clockwork mechanism with a small turbine wheel, tiny gears and a coiled spring, wired into the porcelain with thin copper threads. Extreme close-up profile portrait, 9:16 vertical film still. She looks down and to the left, eyes half closed, the braid falling over her shoulder. Dark moss-green background, soft north-window light from the front left, gentle shadow under the cheekbone. Ivory, brass and moss palette, 85mm lens, shallow depth of field, 35mm film grain. Photorealistic, quiet and uncanny, no text, no subtitles, no watermark.

Full shot, 9:16 vertical film still, her whole figure from head to shoes in frame. She sits on a tall wooden stool at a watchmaker's bench, turned three-quarters to the camera, winding the mechanism in her head with a small brass key held to her temple, eyes lowered. A plain moss-green wool dress to the ankle, black lace-up boots. Loupes, open pocket watches, trays of gears and an oil lamp on the bench. Soft north-window light from the left. Ivory, brass and moss palette, 35mm lens, 35mm film grain. Photorealistic, quiet and uncanny, no text, no subtitles, no watermark.

Medium shot, 9:16 vertical film still. She crouches behind a cracked potting bench in an overgrown Victorian glasshouse at dusk, peering over its edge toward the door, afraid, as if she has escaped from a cruel owner. Her left forearm is broken: shards of porcelain are missing from wrist to elbow, showing brass gears and copper threads inside. Her moss-green wool dress is torn at the sleeve and the hem and smudged with soil. A warm lantern beam falls only on her head, so the brass clockwork glints bright against muted grey-green ferns and rain-streaked glass. Muted grey-green palette with one bright brass accent, 50mm lens, shallow depth of field, 35mm film grain. Photorealistic, tense and uncanny, no text, no subtitles, no watermark.
2. Chrome Spine#
A human face on a chrome neck, in black and white: the silver gelatin look holds in any room.
Each frame is one take on GPT Image 2.5; its Copy button copies the whole prompt, character included.
Held: the chrome vertebrae, the pixie cut and the silver gelatin print in all three. Drifted: the steel bodice grew into a whole chrome torso and arms in every scene, more machine than the prompt asks for.
An android woman in her early thirties with mature, defined features and a short black pixie cut, her face fully human. Below the jaw her neck is a column of polished chrome vertebrae, with thin hydraulic pistons and braided steel cables running down to her collarbones. She wears a high-necked bodice of brushed steel plates, riveted at the seams, with exposed ball joints and pistons at the shoulders and elbows. Black-and-white medium-format portrait, 9:16 vertical. She raises her chin and closes her eyes. A pale grey plaster wall behind her, soft high-key studio light from above, deep blacks in the joints. Silver gelatin print, medium-format film grain, fine scratches. Photorealistic, no text, no subtitles, no watermark.

Black-and-white full shot, 9:16 vertical, her whole figure from head to feet in frame. She sits sideways on a bare wooden chair, one arm hooked over the chair back, head tilted back, eyes closed, in a long pleated dark-grey skirt, bare feet on an iron floor. Around her: a dieselpunk factory hall of riveted iron walls, thick pipes, pressure gauges, a huge flywheel, soot and drifting steam, one hard shaft of light from a high grimy skylight. Silver gelatin print, medium-format film grain, fine scratches. Photorealistic, bleak and dystopian, no text, no subtitles, no watermark.

Hard sunlight throws the shape of the panes across her and the bare wall. Silver gelatin print, medium-format film grain, fine scratches. Photorealistic, no text, no subtitles, no watermark.
3. Red Visor#
A combat android with no face: the helmet carries the whole character.
Each frame is one take on Seedream 5 Pro; its Copy button copies the whole prompt, character included.
Held: the red stripes, the chipped paint, the flat chest plate, the ponytail. Drifted: in a third scene, a flooded subway, the helmet opened to a human face, so I cut it.
A female combat android in her early thirties with an athletic build. White armour plates with red stripes, scuffs and chipped paint cover her fully, with a flat armoured chest plate; black cable bundles show only at the neck and the joints. A white helmet with a narrow red visor slit, a short dark ponytail from its back. Cinematic medium shot, 9:16 vertical film still. She leans her shoulders against a peeling, water-stained concrete wall, head tilted down as if resting. Green-tinted daylight through a dirty window, dust hanging in the light. White, red and grey-green palette, 35mm lens, 1980s film stock with halation. Photorealistic, no text, no subtitles, no watermark.

She crouches on one knee on a scorched battlefield, one hand flat on the churned ground, helmeted head turned toward the camera, her red visor glowing. Behind her a machine army advances through smoke: giant walking tanks, wrecked robots in the mud, burning military trucks, orange explosions on the horizon, sparks and ash in the air. White, red and smoke-grey palette with orange fire, 35mm lens, 1980s film stock with halation. Photorealistic, no text, no subtitles, no watermark.
4. Ginger Unit#
A powered-down android and the moment she wakes: two frames that cut together as one shot.
Each frame is one take on Seedream 5 Pro; its Copy button copies the whole prompt, character included.
Held: the ginger bob, the black ball joints, the orange and teal light, and the cable in the port at her neck.
A slender white android woman in her early thirties with a ginger bob. White plastic body plates, scuffed at the edges, with black ball joints at the shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, and a cable port at the back of her neck. High-angle wide shot, 9:16 vertical film still. She lies curled on her side on the stained concrete floor of a cramped server room, eyes closed as if powered down, one hand reaching toward a loose cable. Around her: walls of tangled cables, rusted cabinets, an orange neon tube, a glowing red ring on a reactor cylinder, teal light from a monitor. Orange and teal palette, 24mm lens, 1980s film stock with halation, slight chromatic aberration. Photorealistic, no text, no subtitles, no watermark.

5. Cracked Chassis#
A broken android in three places: after the fall, after the crash, in repair.
Each frame is one take on Seedream 5 Pro; its Copy button copies the whole prompt, character included.
Held: the cracks, the missing plates and the silver hair in every scene; in the desert, the forearm lying a metre away. Drifted: in the cradle the shell is moulded close to the body, more mannequin than machine.
A damaged white porcelain android woman in her early thirties with mature, defined features and short silver hair. Her shell is cracked across the chest plate and the thigh, and plates are missing at the hip and the shoulder, showing black cable bundles and small pistons; fine grey dust lies on the plates. High-angle shot, 9:16 vertical film still. She lies on her back on the white floor of a spaceship corridor, eyes half closed, one arm across her body, her hair spread on the floor. Cold daylight from a square skylight above. White, grey and black palette, 35mm lens, 35mm film grain. Photorealistic, calm and still, no text, no subtitles, no watermark.

Her shell is cracked across the chest plate and the thigh, and plates are missing at the hip and the shoulder, showing black cable bundles and small pistons; fine grey dust lies on the plates. Wide shot, 9:16 vertical film still, her whole figure in frame. She lies half-propped on a heap of scorched space debris beside the crashed wreck of a white shuttle on a desert planet of endless sand dunes, one leg bent, head fallen to the side, eyes half open. Her left arm is torn off at the elbow, black cables trailing into the sand, the detached forearm lying a metre away. Twisted hull panels, a broken wing half buried in sand, thin smoke from the wreck, two pale suns low in a hazy ochre sky. Ochre, white and black palette, 35mm lens, 35mm film grain, heat haze. 6. Studded Helmet#
A chrome helmet studded with pearls: the close-up that introduces a character.
The frame is one take on Seedream 5 Pro; its Copy button copies the whole prompt.
Held: the rivets and pearls, the brass lens, the bead collar, the mint bun and the red lips.
A woman in her early thirties with mature, defined features and deep red lips wears a polished chrome helmet that covers the top half of her face, studded with rows of small chrome rivets and pearls, with a round brass lens over her ear. Her neck is wrapped in a tall collar of stacked chrome beads down to a mirror-polished chrome shoulder and arm. A loose bun of pastel mint-green hair spills out of the back of the helmet. Close-up profile portrait, 9:16 vertical film still. Pale grey-green background, soft even light, sharp reflections on the chrome. Chrome, mint and red palette, 85mm lens, shallow depth of field, 35mm film grain. Photorealistic, no text, no subtitles, no watermark.
7. Brass Skull#
A brass skull mask with a living brain under glass: biopunk in a Victorian coat.
Each frame is one take on Seedream 5 Pro; its Copy button copies the whole prompt, character included.
Held: the organic brain in all three scenes, the goggle, the auburn bun and the green velvet; the jars of mutants in the lab. Drifted: the cannon on the wheelchair came out as a brass barrel that reads more like a telescope.
A woman in her early thirties with mature, defined features wears an ornate brass skull mask over her face, engraved with filigree, with a round glass goggle over one eye. The top of the mask is a glass dome, and inside it sits a real organic human brain, wet and orange-yellow, with pink veins and deep folds, floating in clear fluid. Dark auburn hair in a low bun at her nape. Profile portrait, 9:16 vertical film still. A high collar of deep bottle-green velvet with a row of jet buttons. Pale warm-grey backdrop, soft light from the front, brass highlights. Brass, bottle-green and warm grey palette, 85mm lens, shallow depth of field, 35mm film grain. Photorealistic, no text, no subtitles, no watermark.

She stands in a cluttered biopunk laboratory, facing the camera, holding a long brass syringe. Around her: strange surgical tools, brass instruments, rubber tubes, and rows of huge and medium glass jars in which small pale mutant creatures float in greenish fluid. A long bottle-green velvet coat with a high collar and jet buttons, black laced boots. Dim gaslight and a green glow from the jars. Brass, bottle-green and sickly green palette, 35mm lens, 35mm film grain. Photorealistic, eerie, no text, no subtitles, no watermark.
Lesson 5. Once a character has a frame you like, attach that frame as the reference image to every next generation and point to it in the prompt: "the porcelain android from @image1 crouches behind a potting bench in a glasshouse". Keep the character's description short, a line or two, and put the shot, the pose, the place and the light in the scene. The frames above ran on text alone, which is why their character blocks are so long.
How to turn a cyborg still into a video#
Give the video model the still and a separate motion prompt that says what the machine parts do, in the order they should do it. The still already carries the look, so do not describe it again. I gave Brass Skull's portrait to Kling 3.0, MiniMax H3 and Seedance 2.0 with the same three beats: the goggle focuses, the brain lights up, the mask comes off.
The lens of the brass goggle rotates and its iris narrows, focusing. Inside the glass dome the brain pulses once, and threads of light run along its veins. Then the brass skull mask unlocks at the jaw: its plates slide apart and fold back over the top of her head, revealing her face, and she opens her eyes. Static camera, profile. One continuous shot, no cuts.

The mask lifts off out of frame; soft at 480p
MiniMax H3, 768p: the closest to the prompt. The mask folds back over the top of her head and the brain stays under the dome, so she is still the same character at the end. It also turned the goggle's lens into an eyeball and left the brass jaw hanging at her chin, neither of which I asked for. 40 credits ($0.20), one take, with a soundtrack of its own.
Kling 3.0, 720p: the jaw drops and the whole mask falls away, taking the glass dome and the brain with it, so she ends as a woman with no machine parts left. The kept take is the first of two, at 75.5 credits ($0.38) each, without sound.
Seedance 2.0, 480p: the brain lights up first, then the mask lifts straight up and out of the frame, and the picture is the softest of the three. 95 credits ($0.48), one take, without sound.
Lesson 6. Write a 5-second motion prompt as two or three beats in the order they should happen. All three models played them in that order; where they differed was the last beat.

FAQ#
How do you get an 80s film look in AI images?#
End the prompt with the lens and the film: "85mm lens, shallow depth of field, 1980s film stock with halation", or "35mm film grain, slight chromatic aberration". In this test GPT Image 2 kept that look in every frame; Seedream 5 Pro drew the same scenes sharper and cleaner.
How does Gossip Goblin make his AI videos?#
From the interviews quoted in the sci-fi prompts article: stills in Midjourney v7, Nano Banana to put the characters into their locations, and Kling to animate frame by frame from those stills. The full workflow, with its sources, is in what AI Gossip Goblin uses. The prompts on this page are written in the spirit of his look, not copied from his films.
What is the best AI model for cyborg images?#
GPT Image 2 for the film look, Seedream 5 Pro for a sharper, cleaner frame: both gave 4 usable frames out of 4 on The Stitched Man. Run the same prompt on both before you settle on one.
How do you keep an AI character consistent across scenes?#
Pick the best frame of the character, attach it as a reference image to every new generation and name it in the prompt ("the android from @image1"), with a short description of the character and a scene that holds the shot, the pose, the place and the light. Keep one model per character. Without a reference image, write the character as a full block (face, hair, body, machine parts) and paste it unchanged above every scene: on this page that kept seven android characters recognisable across 17 scenes, one take each.
How much does a cyborg AI image cost?#
On kie.ai, 6 credits ($0.03) for a GPT Image 2 frame at 1K and 7 credits ($0.035) for Seedream 5 Pro. Plan on four takes per prompt to pick from.
